Brody started Kindergarten on Wednesday the 1st of September. I took the morning off to drop him off and pick him up. Shane and my mom went also. He looked so big all dressed up for school. He was excited to go. He got ready that morning and had to have deodorant on and his hair had to be spiked. We got lots of pictures, Ill upload them tonight but I just wanted to write about his first 2 days so far this week.
I was so nervous for him to go to Kinderarten. I was afraid he wouldnt like it, that he would be scared or nervous. I was up most the night and I was sick in the morning. But when he woke up to get ready, he was so excited. We all drove together to drop him off and before we got out of the car he told us that we had to follow him. So, we all followed him across the cross walk to the school. He held his dads hand and got a little nervous when he saw all the kids on the playground. He went to take his bagpack off to play on the playground but the bell rang. So, he lined up where the teacher told him to line up at. He kept looking at us and I knew he was a little nervous. He has a loose tooth and he kept playing with it. Finally, the teachers had them waive goodbye to all the parents and they went in the classroom. Of course, all of us parents followed... the teachers probably thought we were crazy. But they went out to the hallway where their lockers were. Brody already knew where his locker was, plus his name was written on green paper and thats his favorite color so he was excited. He took his bagpack off and stuffed it in his locker and got back in line. He kept looking to make sure we were there. Finally, they got to go into the classroom. The kids were asked to find a spot on the rug in the middle of the class and Brody of course chose a green square on the rug to sit on. The teacher had made flash cards for roll call that said the students name and then "is here" and when she got to that students name, they had to raise their hand and say "here". So, she got to Brody and she said "Brody is here" and Brody was so cute, he raised his little hand and said "here" and then got embarrased. He was so cute though. We waived goodbye and blew him a kiss and left. I had to wait 3 hours to pick him up and it seemed like FOREVER. When school was over, I was waiting at the gate to give him a big hug. He said he had a fun day. They made ginger bread men. He was excited to go back.
Thursday September 2 was a harder day for me. Daycare was going to be dropping off and picking up and I just wasnt ready for it. I had an anxiety attack on my way to work and I couldnt think about anything else except him. I was worried that he wouldnt know what to do or where to go. I called Mrs Shirley right after he was dropped off and she said that he did great. She said she gave him a hug and kiss and said she would be there to pick him up when school was over. Then she said he walked into class and was very happy. Im so lucky that the people at his daycare take care of him so much!! Then, she said I could call her when school was over to talk to him so I did. But, he sat in the back of the van with all the other kids so she couldnt give him the phone, but he yelled "Hi Mommy" and it made me cry. He had such a great day!! He got lots of school supplies to take home for homework from the school that he thought was cool. When I picked him up from daycare he was so excited to tell me about how they had to search the school for the gingerbread men that they made the day before and they went to the library and office and there were signs that said "run run as fast as you can, you cant catch me Im the gingerbread man!" so they kept looking and finally they went back to their class and the gingerbread men were on the desks with a note that said, "Im so tired and Im sure you are to so enjoy this snack that Ive made for you" and he said that they got to eat the gingerbread cookies and they were so yummy. He kept talking and talking and he already seemed like he had grown up...
Im so glad he loved school. Today is Friday so I cant wait to go pick him up and see how his day went. Then, we get to have a 3 day weekend (Labor day on Monday) so well have lots of fun!!
I just cant believe my little boy is already getting so big. You mean so much to me Brody Max and I love you with all my heart!!
